The Herbs Behind Essiac Tea
Essiac tea is made from a specific combination of plant-based ingredients. The traditional recipe calls for four herbs, each selected for its botanical properties and historical use in herbal preparations.
The Four Traditional Herbs
- Burdock root — a large-rooted plant in the aster family.
- Sheep sorrel — a small perennial herb with tart, sour leaves.
- Slippery elm bark — the inner bark of the slippery elm tree.
- Indian rhubarb root — also called Turkey rhubarb root, a rhubarb variety distinct from garden rhubarb.
NutriNoche's Fifth Herb
NutriNoche's formula includes a fifth ingredient: cat's claw bark. This creates the five-herb blend that distinguishes NutriNoche's ready-to-drink Essiac tea from traditional four-herb recipes.
How the Tea Is Brewed
NutriNoche brews these herbs in Ultra Purified Water and bottles the resulting liquid as a ready-to-drink tea. No simmering, straining, or measuring is required at home — the 32 oz bottle arrives pre-brewed and ready to use.
NutriNoche uses its own five-herb formula made with Ultra Purified Water. It is not a traditional four-herb recipe.
